Azores Bus
Azores Bus mobile app privacy
This section covers the published Azores Bus mobile app for iPhone and Android (Google Play package com.sd2.azores.bus; Apple App Store ID 6793429683). Website practices are described separately below. The app has no accounts and carries no advertising.
Location stays on your device during ordinary browsing
For nearby-stop sorting and your position on the map, the app uses foreground location while it is on screen. That ordinary browsing location is processed on the device and is not written to a server.
A GO ride that you deliberately start is different: it records the ride route and can continue while the screen is locked until the ride ends. Verify mode also uses your coordinates when you deliberately submit a stop correction. Both optional paths are described below.
Permission is optional. If you decline it, browsing stops, routes, timetables and the map keep working; only location-based features are unavailable.
Schedule data is bundled, not downloaded
Timetable, route and stop data ships inside the app and is read from the device. Azores OTA schedule updates are disabled, so the app does not contact an update service for schedule data while you plan a journey.
The bundled data does not provide live bus positions or real-time departures, and core planning remains available without a signal.
Product analytics
PostHog processes product-usage analytics for SD2 Studio in the EU. This helps us understand how app features are used and improve them. The analytics may include app interactions, in-app search history, diagnostic context and an app-scoped device ID.
The app-scoped device ID is not an advertising identifier. We do not use PostHog for advertising, sell personal data, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Subscriptions and purchase history
If you choose a paid subscription or purchase, RevenueCat processes purchase history and subscription entitlement information for SD2 Studio so the app can provide the features you bought. Purchases are completed by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies.
Azores Bus does not collect or have access to your payment-card number, bank details or Apple ID/Google payment credentials.
GO ride companion
GO is an optional companion that you start yourself, ride by ride. After the app shows its contribution explanation and you choose to start, the ride uploads an anonymous location trace to Supabase in the EU so SD2 Studio can improve route information. It never starts on its own and is not part of ordinary planning or browsing.
Each upload carries a one-time random code, with no account and no persistent device identifier. Separate rides cannot be linked through that code or tied to your name or email. Under the Play Data safety definition, precise location is collected, not shared: collection is optional app functionality, and Supabase acts as SD2 Studio’s backend processor rather than an independent recipient.
Raw GO traces have a 365-day retention policy target. Derived, non-identifying transport observations may be retained because they describe the transport network rather than a rider or device.
Stop contributions in Verify mode
Verify mode is optional and is switched on by you. When you confirm, move, add, or remove a stop, the app sends the stop change, your coordinates, and an install-scoped device ID to Supabase in the EU. The coordinates help assess how close you were to the stop; the device ID helps protect the contribution process from duplicate or abusive submissions.
For the Play Data safety declaration, precise location and device or other IDs are collected, not shared. Both are optional app functionality. Supabase processes them for SD2 Studio as its backend processor; they are not shared with an independent third party for advertising or another company’s purposes.
The install-scoped device ID is not an advertising identifier and is not used for cross-app tracking or advertising profiling. A Verify contribution is sent only after you choose a stop action; simply opening the map or turning on Verify mode does not submit one.
Nearby bus and timetable reports
When you choose to report a bus, departure or timetable issue from Nearby, the app sends the report text and relevant report context, an install-scoped device ID and timestamps to Supabase in the EU. If you have granted location permission and a location fix is available, the report also includes precise GPS coordinates. You can submit reports without location permission.
These reports help SD2 Studio review timetable and nearby-departure information. They are separate from the voluntary Sentry problem-report form described below.
Crash diagnostics and optional problem reports
Sentry receives crash logs, diagnostics and performance data needed to find and fix app failures. Under the Play Data safety definition, these records are collected, not shared and are used for app functionality; Sentry processes them for SD2 Studio.
On Android, Sentry also samples visual session replay for about 10% of sessions in which an error occurs, for diagnostic purposes.
If you choose the in-app problem-report feature, Sentry also receives the message you write and any name or email address you choose to provide. Those fields are optional. The voluntary problem-report form does not attach screenshots.
This operational error reporting is separate from the product-usage analytics described above.
Tours and activities from GetYourGuide
The app links to activity searches on GetYourGuide and can render a GetYourGuide booking widget inside an in-app web view. SD2 Studio earns a commission on qualifying bookings made through those links and that widget, at no extra cost to you.
Opening a link or widget loads GetYourGuide, an independent company acting as its own controller. GetYourGuide receives your IP address, device or browser information and your interactions inside its service, and applies its own policy. SD2 Studio does not receive your booking details.
What the app does not do
These exclusions apply to the Azores Bus mobile app.
- It has no accounts, logins or signups.
- It shows no ads and uses no advertising identifier.
- It does not collect contacts, photos, files, phone numbers or payment-card details.
- It does not use product analytics for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking.
- It does not sell or rent personal data.
Bases, processors and privacy rights
SD2 Studio is the developer, operator and controller for the Azores Bus mobile app. Your choice to start a GO ride, submit a Verify-mode stop contribution or Nearby report, send a problem report or purchase a subscription is the basis for that optional processing. Supabase, PostHog, RevenueCat and Sentry process the described data for SD2 Studio.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to processing, or complain to a supervisory authority.
Deleting your data
This section explains how to ask SD2 Studio to delete app data from GO rides, Verify-mode stop contributions, Nearby reports, product analytics, subscriptions, Sentry problem reports or email correspondence.
Make a deletion request
Email [email protected] and identify the Azores Bus mobile app and the data you want removed.
Data SD2 Studio can delete on request
- GO traces and Verify-mode stop contributions that SD2 Studio can locate from a one-time ride code, install-scoped device ID or sufficiently specific technical details.
- Nearby bus and timetable reports that SD2 Studio can locate from the install-scoped device ID, report details, timestamps or sufficiently specific technical details.
- Optional Sentry problem reports that can be located from the details you provide, including any name, email address and message included in the report.
- Product-analytics records and subscription entitlement information that SD2 Studio can locate from the app-scoped device ID, purchase details or sufficiently specific technical details.
- Email correspondence you have sent, including your address and message.
How anonymous app records can be located
GO traces are not linked to an account, name, email address or persistent device ID, and Verify contributions are not linked to an account or email address. In your request, describe the ride, stop contribution or problem report and provide any one-time ride code, install-scoped device ID or other technical details available to you. SD2 Studio will explain what can be located and delete matching records. An email address alone cannot identify an anonymous GO trace or Verify contribution.
Data kept
- Data held only on your device, such as saved journeys and preferences, stays under your control and is removed when the app is deleted.
- Raw GO traces are subject to a 365-day retention policy target. Derived, non-identifying transport observations may remain because they describe the transport network rather than a rider or device.
- Verify-mode contributions, Nearby reports, PostHog analytics and Sentry records may be retained while needed to review and improve the app or stop data, prevent abuse, or meet legal and security obligations, unless a valid deletion request requires earlier removal.
- Purchase, subscription and transaction records may need to be retained by Apple, Google, RevenueCat or SD2 Studio where required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, security or legal obligations. Deleting app data does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions through Apple or Google.
