What Nordeste does best

Nordeste occupies the wild north-eastern corner of São Miguel, below Pico da Vara. It is the longest bus ride from Ponta Delgada, and the only municipality where the express line is genuinely faster than the stopping service, so the choice of line matters more here than anywhere else.

Miradouros

The coast road between Nordeste and Povoação passes some of the island’s most photographed viewpoints and flower-filled picnic parks.

Ribeira dos Caldeirões

The waterfall park on the Achada road is a printed stop on the stopping line.

Good to know

  • Line 105 runs the whole north coast with many stops; express E01 runs on weekdays only with a handful of stops.
  • Line 112 links Nordeste with Povoação on two weekdays a week only; it is not a daily connection.
