What Povoação does best

Povoação is the south-east town where the island’s settlement began. AzoresBus prints a Terminal stop here and runs its short Lomba lines, the Furnas connection and the Água Retorta line from it, so it functions as a small hub in its own right.

The Lombas

The ridges above the town each carry a village and a short bus line from the terminal.

Furnas from the south

The valley is one short line away, which makes Povoação a base for the hot springs without staying in Furnas itself.

Good to know

  • The Ponta Delgada line along the south coast ends at the Povoação terminal; the weekday express E02 is the quicker option.
  • Most Lomba lines run on school days only; check the season code on each column.
