What the bus and ferry operators publish about children and bags, and the hot pools’ own rules for under-age visitors. Where an operator publishes nothing, as AzoresBus does for luggage and pushchairs, this guide says so instead of guessing.

Make your visit work

  • Pack for the ferry’s two-bag allowance and ask the bus driver before boarding with a large case or pushchair.

Do children pay on São Miguel buses?

AzoresBus’s passes leaflet lists a half single ticket on board for children aged 4 to 11 inclusive. It prints no fare for younger children, so ask the driver. Network day passes cost €7 for one day, €12 for two, €16 for three and €25 for five, each timed from first validation; for a family day out, compare them with the singles your trip needs.

Can I bring a suitcase or pushchair?

AzoresBus publishes no luggage, pushchair or bicycle rule in the timetables, tariff feed or leaflet read on 14 October 2026; ask the driver before you board. On Atlânticoline ferries the allowance is two checked bags and one hand bag of at most 60 × 50 × 25 cm with no fee, food for babies and children is allowed in the hand luggage, and passengers travelling with children board first.

Can children go in the hot pools?

Poça da Dona Beija lets minors in only with an adult’s accompaniment and supervision and may refuse entry otherwise; infants under 2 enter free, swim diapers are mandatory and jumping or diving is forbidden. Terra Nostra forbids jumping and diving into its thermal tank and advises dark swimwear because the iron-rich water stains. The health advice in the thermal-bathing guide applies to everyone in the family.
