What Mosteiros does best
Mosteiros lies on the north-west coast beneath the outer wall of the Sete Cidades crater. Only one line prints stops in the village, and it is the same line that continues to the crater village, so the two are natural partners in a west-coast day.
The road up to the crater
From the village the line climbs back to Sete Cidades, so a walk down the caldera rim can end with a bus home from the coast.

The last all-year return from Mosteiros (Banda de Além) is 17:35 on weekdays, 16:35 on Saturdays and 15:00 on Sundays, with an 18:25 Sunday trip that starts in Sete Cidades and a 20:00-from-Sete-Cidades trip in June to September that does not call at Banda de Além [source]. Sunset at the rocks is later than the last bus for most of the year.
