Ponta Delgada port by bus: the seafront stops are the hub

Ponta Delgada's cruise and ferry terminal is on the same seafront avenue as the stops most AzoresBus lines start from, which makes the port the easiest place on the island to begin a bus day. This guide names those stops, the lines that use them and the ticket office a few doors along.

The seafront stops P. Delgada (Alfândega) and P. Which stop for which line

Alfândega is the start of the 311, 315, 318 (south coast), 110 (north coast to Furnas, weekend and 07:15 trips), 208 (to Sete Cidades via João Bom) and E01 outbound tables [source, source, source, source, source]. Marina is the second stop on most of those lines and the final stop of several returns, including the 208 [source, source]. Forte S. Brás is the first stop of the 205 and the last stop of most returns from the south coast [source, source]. Returning to the port

Read the last stop of the return column you plan to use: the 315 from Vila Franca ends at Forte S. Brás on most trips, the 311 from Lagoa at Forte S. Brás or Hospital, the 110 from Furnas at Alfândega and the 318 from Povoação at Forte S. Brás [source, source, source, source]. All of these are on or beside the seafront avenue.

Tickets on the avenue

The Ponta Delgada ticket office is on the seafront avenue (Edifício Solmar, Loja 22), open weekdays 09:00–19:00 and Saturdays 09:00–13:00; it is closed on Sundays according to the published hours [source]. What goes wrong

Not every return ends at the stop you left from. The 110 from Furnas ends at Alfândega, but the 315 and 318 end at Forte S. Brás at the far end of the avenue, and some 311 trips end at Hospital, inland [source, source, source, source]. Check the last stop of the return column before deciding how much walking time to allow back to the ship.
