Which company runs the buses on São Miguel?

AzoresBus (Vale do Ave Açores) operates all fifty-six published interurban lines since the concession began on 1 September 2026; its customer line is 296 097 097 and its email [email protected] [source, source].

Do São Miguel buses have route numbers?

Yes. Lines 1xx go north and east via Ribeira Grande, 2xx west, 3xx along the south coast and round the city suburbs, E01 and E02 are weekday expresses and N01 to N05 are night lines [source].

Where is the main bus station in Ponta Delgada?

There is no bus station. Most lines start at the seafront stops P. Delgada (Alfândega), (Marina), (Piscinas) or (Forte S. Brás), or at (Hospital) a few streets inland; each line PDF prints its first stop at the top of the table [source, source].

Reading the timetable

What do U, S, DF and SDF mean on the timetable?

Day-type codes: U = dias úteis (weekdays), S = sábados (Saturdays), DF = domingos e feriados (Sundays and public holidays), SDF = fins de semana e feriados (weekends and holidays). Each is a separate column on the PDF [source].

What do A, E, FE and JS mean?

Season codes printed above each column: A = anual (all year), E = escolar (school days only), FE = férias escolares (school holidays only), JS = June to September only [source, source].

What do the numbers like 2345 or 6 in the day column mean?

Portuguese weekday numbering: 2 = Monday, 3 = Tuesday, 4 = Wednesday, 5 = Thursday, 6 = Friday. A column headed 2345 runs Monday to Thursday; one headed 6 runs on Fridays only [source].

Do the buses run on public holidays?

Holidays follow the Sunday column (DF or SDF). The PDFs print no holiday calendar, so this site cannot tell you which dates are holidays [source].

Why does a trip's first time not match the line's first stop?

Some printed trips are short workings that start or end part-way along the line; the line pages show every stop each trip serves, with a dash where it does not [source].

How often do the buses run?

AzoresBus prints no frequency. The densest line is the 315 to Vila Franca do Campo with thirteen weekday departures; many rural lines print one or two trips per column [source, source].

How much is a bus ticket on São Miguel?

Is there a bus from Ponta Delgada airport?
