What Maia does best

Maia sits on the north coast east of Ribeira Grande, in the stretch of coast where the island’s tea is grown. The Furnas line along the north coast, the Nordeste line and both weekday express lines print stops here.

Tea estates

The tea factories lie along the coast road between Porto Formoso and Maia.

Fishing harbour

The harbour and its natural pools are below the main road.
