What Capelas does best

Capelas is the largest parish on the north coast west of Ribeira Grande, with an old whaling harbour and natural pools. Several north-western lines print stops through it, including the long way round to Sete Cidades via João Bom.

The small port keeps its whaling heritage and a set of sea pools below the village.

Gateway to the north-west

Lines continue west to Santo António, Fenais da Luz, João Bom and the Bretanha parishes.

Good to know

  • Line 208 to Sete Cidades passes through Capelas, but with far fewer trips than the direct lines via Candelária.
  • The night line N02 prints Capelas stops on its way to Santo António.
